We have a hen that appears to be eggbound, trying to get around but keeps flopping over onto her side. Anyone any suggestions on how we can help her. Thanks

Can you definitely feel that there is an egg stuck in there? If so, you may have to lubricate the vent to help it out - use vaseline or olive oil, push it down inside the vent gently with your finger. It might also help to massage the abdomen gently to help get the egg moving (but not too hard or you might break it).
I am a bit concerned about the falling over, though. But have a prod around to check that she is definitely eggbound before we worry about anything else.

How old is she. Does she lay regularly, and how long is it since she hasn't layed.
Chap I knew in Suffolk used to use steam for eggbound hens. Boil a kettle and let it go off the boil slightly, then hold the chook so her vent is over the spout and the steam gets to the affected bits. Do NOT have the kettle still boiling as the steam at the spout will scald her severely! Test it with your hand first - if it burns you it'll burn her.
