BB, Is the mannox coat standard on all of the non stainless models?

All the ones made since about 2005 AFAIK.

They still make the stainless because people wan tto buy the stainless, though it's way too hard. The rifling wears too fast and they still rust in any case, just slower than normal steel.

It's applied to bare metal and baked on, it's a type of ceramic and should last as long as the rifle does.

Paint?! I have an old stainless rifle, (15 years maybe) which is beginning to show a bit of corrosion here and there, it certainly isn't shiny any more. The mannox sounds pretty good.

Due to the high chromium content of stainless steel it's difficult to get anything to adhere to it. It can be dulled through shot blasting but it is still visually intrusive. Also, remember animals such as deer have a higher sensitivity in the ultra violet and see differently to us.
