The rain stopped here at about 11, and it has been very warm since. I just went for a walk round the veg patch - the difference it has made is visible. It is as though the plants had been in suspended animation for the last week and just needed that rain to wake up.

Well last night I slept from 11.30 til 12.45. First thunder bolt overhead nearly fell out of bed with surprise. Electrical storm with no rain until around 5 this morning (no sleep), then heavy heavy heavy rain that sounded like a herd of elephants (didn't have to count them, the storm was echoing up and down the valley), then sun from 10 til now. Now torrential rain and thunder restarting.

My vote is with imperical elephants too. Never counted a mississippi in my life.

We're booked in for 22.5mm on Tuesday. I'm hoping the 3.7mm expected on Saturday will soften up the ground first. At least it should be cooler on Saturday, I'm fed up with this heat, not to mention using the watering can every night.

You pinched all my rain. We had nothing over the weekend and the rain forecast for today disappeared.

However, we are now forecast for 1.5mm tonight and 18.5mm tomorrow (with one hour of sun for the day) and another 11.8mm on Sunday, with temperatures below 30° for the rest of the week. If this doesn't come I'm back to sacrificing virgins.

Got thunder and lightening and very heavy rain here as I type. I was outside watering my plants when it hit. I just carried right on as I was doing their weekly feed. My mum once watered in the rain for a whole summer as she was under the impression it'd make her plants grow faster. She only stopped when she caught my dad laughing at her .

We had a wonderful firework show last night at 11pm. I couldn't hear any thunder though, so the storm must have passed well to the south. We had a light rain which softened up the soil nicely. I just sat out watching the show and enjoying the smell of rain on the soil.

Today's forecast, just issued, still says 15.1mm and storms, but we have had clear skies so far. If this doesn't come we'll be dry until the cold front on Monday.
