Following Ginkotrees post in the Warre thread I pondered that there must be many landowners who know the importance of the bee & the threat it is under, but don't like getting stung, or whos lives are to busy to take on another project.
Why not let a small corner of your land to a local beekeeper?
Three or four colonies only require a few square metres of ground.
You could take your rent in honey & know your fruit trees will be well pollinated & you will be making a valuable contribution to your local enviroment.
I'm sure with the resurgence of interest in beekeeping there are many people who want to get into the craft but don't have the right location.
An add in the local classifieds or on landshare might bring many applicants?
Anyway just a thought.

We have a bee man (Lots of Acacia nearby.) and we get beer, soap, and a years supply of honey and the bees pollinate for us. A great swap !

Are you asking?
If you want to keep bees & haven't got anywhere to keep them you'd be welcome to keep them here, but they would be better nearer home.

What about asking Bagzi.
He's a lot closer to you than I am, & has some land.

An excellent idea: I've failed spectacularly as a beekeeper, but I like having them around.

I'll get on to the locals...

Precisely.
He either has a lot of bees or you have a system in France where colonies have to be registered with their own number?
One of those boxes has P2464 on it.

We have made this arrangement as well. They were supposed to be last Autumn but haven't turned up as yet (I am hoping that this is due to a much better than anticipated end of season). I can't wait!

As an afterthought approaching your local BKA would be a good place to find beekeepers or IMHO maybe ask here or ask me to ask on your behalf.

Doing that is in my plans, but I haven't got that far yet. Any beekeepers on here who live in the Newcastle Emlyn area who are interested?

I;ve offered, but got not responses. Maybe the BKA are made up of people who already have bees. Is there a Want to be a bee keeper association anywhere?

Our beekeeper association has a news letter and on the back there is a list of farms, etc that would like to be hosts to hives...getting in touch with your local society might BEE the way forward....thats is how all the bee stuff at the farm started, once they came I showed them the rest of the space and said they could teach here..we have had twenty+ new members since....I got honey as a rent...yum yum.

Last year it was a struggle to get bees for all the new keepers, if this year is better for the bees then the response to be a host could be better....Pray for good weather and plenty of flowers out at the right time.x.x.

We didn't do it that way, one of our neighbours works for a honey producing company. I am just about to email them and see what's happened with this. If I ever see them again I can mention that you have land available as well if you like? They are based near me but have hives all over the place.

you could mention that there's a bit of land in Montgoneryshire as well, if you were so inclined...

I'm going to post a link to this thread over on the natural beekeeping forum.
There may be beekeepers there who are interested.
