Matty

A friend of mine collected 20 chicks in 2 x tesco online boxes yesterday. Made a pod, and tied with baling twine.

I do something similar, Matty - it's very easy and you can stack them.

Pardon my language but a poultry crate made of pallets would give you a big set of nuts. It would be way too heavy.
If you can't get hold of something made from plastic, then I suggest you look using treated roofing batons. They are fairly cheap to buy.

I have a cat carrier which is fine for up to four or five hens on a short run and my chum has a large dog cage, big enough for a labrador, which I have borrowed for moving more birds - but it's awkward if I'm on my own, better with a friend so you can carry one side each. I also have to put all the seats down in the car and insert through hatch as it won't fit through the doors of the car. It does fold flat very nicely if there aren't any hens (or labradors) in it!
