can't find the original thread. But just an update.

we are still under constant attack as you can see if you hit the "who's online" link at the top of the page.

It's been going on ever since AI became a thing and my assumption is AI training bots as a lot of the IPs are Amazon and other big players. In the last 6 months or so it's been enough to really grind us to a halt unless dealt with.

I ban vast IP ranges every few days. hopefully it will eventually be enough.

Thank you for all the work you are putting in Jema. Much appreciated that you are generally managing to keep things running smoothly and deal with any issues as we report them.

all remains quiet, albeit some blocked ips keep trying.

I'm fairly sure there's a bit of a weekend pattern to things, probably on the assumption that people will be less on the case.

i just had a look at what interests the 1800 or so guests

they are getting a good education

def AI learner bots, they possible have no malice to us, they could do it without being disruptive if they learnt to use the library properly

if they were crawling chat i would assume malice until proven otherwise, proof is a difficult beast to catch.

Getting hit a lot again, under control for the second, but I'm going to leave it to the morning for another session.

current state is that we are getting hammered by banned ips that just don't want to give up.
as such site speed is not too bad, but it' very hard to spot additional ip ranges to ban.
