tt showed me a youngish gentleman from newcastle who needs a permanent sofa

im not sure how the conversation is progressing......

i am now, he still needs a home, he could come to york, tt will phone them soon to advance the conversation

i know how to do the logistics, we are in the rehoming game and part of team pointy

this one is at least a 1/4 saluki and has a healthy look(unlike Chomsky who was a nursing job as well as the other dog rescue stuff)
some of the other genetics, umm , i will not speculate on the keen look bit, the greyhound component seems fairly standard lurcher expression

dog and child friendly, not keen on cats, house-trained (i only get 3 out of 4 of those

) has a grasp of basic sit stay come here type commands

3 yrs old so starting to calm down, ie ready for some useful training as a dude

wearing family colours which got me straight away, im very shallow at times

good thing i resited the basket of pups in cardiff, the best one is a ringer for the yellow hellhound at that age, the girl looks like his sister, it is not implausible YHH's brother had a part in the genetic line a while back

neither of us are up for that sort of thing, a sofa mutt who can be charming in public is the ideal candidate

we will see how it goes

if anyone needs a stealth hound with "abilities", the yellow one looks very promising

The other thing, which you probably have considered already, is can one of you give it enough exercise? Even if it has calmed down it might need quite a lot of walking. Think you were very right to resist the puppies.

tt needs to go for at least an hour walk a day, long dogs are more than tired if that has a 2 min to 20 min run every few days built in to her walk,
working from home fits well with dog exercise as a healthy break.
we have a chum in the doggy day care trade(and rescuer/ organiser) so in emergencies he could go for a trundle with her pack in a van

they are athletes, but not marathon runners or explorers like some

tt is phoning mrs muttt to learn more about him

round the house i can still cope with the needs and direction of any but the largest fiercest savage beast, and even they are usually open to negotiation via diplomacy with menace should they misunderstand their Ts and Cs

this one seems sweet and quite small at 25"
we will find out

could be a very lucky mutt to get your sofa space. agree long dogs like a sprint, more than a long walk. (My old lurcher loved nothing more than me standing still bunging a frisbie out )But sounds like you can provide both. Good luck x

update news

physically healthy
a bit unsocialized due to lockdown puppy syndrome
not a beast (cats need not apply)
trained in a few basics, the ones that matter most
clever but not assertive
trainable and likes it
etc

coming for a visit after the winterval

the nice folk who are looking after him seem to have taken him from younger family member(see lockdown pup) and they have 2 sets of parents to look after, and their middle-aged spaniel was plenty of sofa mutt, and he is being cared for but needs a forever home

a bit of rehab socialization and developing an "understanding" seems not too much of a task

we will see how he is in a few weeks

Hope it works out then. Only dogs I have experience of were in-laws as we never had one. They had a whippet once, but that worked on instinct only and don't think it had any brain, unlike the small poodle, which was clever, would see off even a GS and had a strong sense of responsibility. Only thing against it was it didn't like my violin playing.

at the mo tt is distracted by mumsy stuff, i was thinking about who would fit the sofa

mutts are ok, wolves are fine(but make folk snuffle), once you have lived with salukis and F1 specials both of us feel there is no going back

few folk seem to know how to make it work
they are hard work, so am i

if you get a saluki as a servant, you will soon have a new master wearing your best cloak
true for more than a thousand years

learn to live with them is delightful
many need that, we need the right one for it and us

home alone reminds me of how mutt free is empty

Fellow feeling from Pirate...every time a mutt says hello to him....as they know he is a dog person. At least he gets doggy love without the responsibility
