That jar is particularly special. The gold thread would be relatively easy to make for a skilled person I would think, but even drawing out the wire at that time was a very skilled job, although easier with gold than most metals.

hence basketry materials prep, weaving etc and rope making

a tree wire might be best chosen rather than drawn

Not wire, but I do make split hazel baskets sometimes. The time is in the preparation as the hazel has to be split then gone over with a knife to make sure it is flexible enough to weave.

I did make a western red cedar bark basket once, and that wasn't so hard, but didn't turn out very tidy. Might have been easier if I had tried square rather than round, but it sort of worked.
