Looks simple, hangs from a hook, needs two wires clipping in.

Let's look at the ceiling.





I know enough to know they don't match up. Putting original fitting right back where it started...

Do you intend to replace the fitting or have you given up on the idea?

I am consulting a friend who does this for a living. I know my limits, and electrickery is a hard line (water plumbing I'll have a go at, on the other hand)

Good idea if you are unsure.

Plumbing errors can lead to leaks but you seldom drown from them.

Gas errors can be deadly as can electrical errors.

It should be a relatively simple job. How often is that said?
