and a newbie to web design?
I am and I had quite a learning curve trying to add a spam proof email form that didn't display my email address for spambots to harvest. I came across this - the easiest, free form creation resource I've found... it's https://www.jotform.com/index.php?new
and it works!

Unfortunately that is only good if your web server supports PH - although even most cheap hosts now do.

He meant PHP - a scripting language and fundamental to the particular tool you have recommended. Anyone who's webspace did not support PHP would not be able to use this tool.

Actually, I lie. Having passed comment I thought I ought to check it out...

The jotform site generates HTML and CSS to copy and paste into your website, but the actual sending of email seems to be handled by it. In other words, when you click "submit" control passes from your site to a form-handling script at jotform, and it seems that users of this tool aren't required to have scripting support in their webspace.

Yup i did mean PHP and obviously I didn't look at it that closely either as didn't noticed it submitted through their site too.

Does look good but I think people still like to often see your email address. But this can be done with a graphic.

Similar thought had occurred to me - not a site I'd use, but having a contact form (or any kind of form) is starting to get a bit technical for those with only basic know-how. Swings and roundabouts...

yep have to agree, your cynic label is accurate!
I checked the privacy policy ( ok just today and not before I went ahead with jotform ) Pleased to report that
jotform says:

All user information contained within the forms you may use or build on the JotForm Site are governed by our Terms of Service. You retain all rights to your data. We will not sell, share data. We will not access your data for non-administrative reasons.

agree with Maxwell Smart - a visible email address is a good thing to have.
