i am using the new trowel, weeding as well as planting

most things that are being relocated to the mouse castle i recognize and name (probably)

i found a "stranger" , not just strange to here, strange a person who has tried to learn plants for 6 decades in many places

no idea what sort it is , never mind what species or strain

i have bought a few plants from specialist nurseries so i spose it could be a hitchiker, seems unlikely as it was in an old pot i have not planted into for a while rather than a new arrival

it has a fine place beside the lemon balm, if it lives i will try to get an ID

birds may have had a forcing on diversity
however it got here tis new to me and rather nice in a probably not food sort of way

My trowel was made as part of the son-in-law's arts and design course. It dates back to 1989. It's "stumpy" cos the connection to the handle is very short indeed (so once you learn to use it, it has interesting leverage).

Must be the weather bringing out the moving of things around the garden estate. I've been splitting, moving, composting, discovering this week.

Mid way between the crocus clan, early daffs and staggered tulips. With scilla and fritillera everywhere.

Need a space in the sun for the large tub which will house the Crocosmia 'Lucifer' which us old folks still know as montbretia - it is a spreading thug but a good splash of colour. I do hate it when some academic decides to rename something after generations of usage.

The being used to the large allotment now given up means that the small garden is well over full.

A picture would be useful Dpack, then we can all have a go at the ID.

Florence, we have burgenia in our front garden and that is taking over the montbretia/crocosmia, so I have had to dig a lot out.

Our lawn is covered in primroses, and the cowslips are also starting. The other lawn has fritillaria and some primroses. On the way to the woods, we pass through a cutting where the woods were cut back last year and the bank is covered in primroses. The bluebells in the woods are thinking about it at the moment, and we are close to the peak wood anemone season.
