The Holy Grail of any polymer production is that it does its job, is stable when needed but breaks down into non-toxic by-products and ideally isn't based on fossil fuels. Of course during production it has to be stable, not use or produce toxic or otherwise dangerous by-products etc. So far, I don't think there are many that have achieved it.
That's the problem. Is it better to save on a lot of electricity and use something containing PTFE, or use PTFE. The plus with this stuff is that it seems pretty well infinitely reuseable.
